I have been looking for a LOOONG time for a suplier here in Germany...
one that will cut to my wishes the pieces of the quality I need.... and
that with a cheerful and courteous customer attitude.
My specific request was for cherry... I specified lenghts, min width,
thickness, the moisture content (under 12%), and required quality (all
faces clear). The boards were to be squared and rough planed to the
required thickness.
Thomas Hutzelmann (www.holz-hutzelmann.de -----
thomashutzelmann@hotmail.com) took my order, and offered me a
satisfactory delivery schedule, and a fair price, based on the
required quality, and the effort he would have to invest. He also understood
that I would not be ordering quantities by the ton!
Delivery was by post (30KG approx). The heave-and-throw experts in the
postal system made a good attempt to break open the packing.... there was
some damage to the wood. Maybe Thomas will have to improve packaging in
future.
Over 95% of the boards were exactly as I had specified; the remaining
boards were quite acceptable with minor flaws on only one face. The overall
wood quality was stunning... beautiful clear cherry boards, with that
magical cherry lustre. I have measured the moisture (test piece weighed before
and after 4 weeks at constant 30°C on top my heating boiler); it came to
just 8%.
